If you don’t already have a color palette in mind for your business, narrowing down the choices can seem like an arduous task. But never fear! There are resources all over the Internet for selecting just the right color palette.
And if you find yourself searching for that palette that feels like you and your brand, you might find some inspiration below. If you don’t know where to start with your color palette, one thing you can do is find a picture that moves you emotionally or makes you feel an emotion that you want to evoke with your brand. We can pull colors from that image to create a color palette for you. There are so many options!
I have put together some of my favorite online resources for selecting color palettes for you so you can see just how many possibilities there are! Feel free to peruse these websites in search for the color palette for your new website. Be forewarned that it’s easy to lose track of time when you’re on some of these sites!
- If you’re looking for full color palette inspiration, head over to {design-seeds}. This site takes breathtaking images and pulls colors from them to create gorgeous color palettes. This is one of those sites that I get lost in because the color palettes are so beautiful.
- Another website that will help you select a full color palette is Adobe’s Kuler. When using this, you’ll want to hover your mouse over the Color Rule drop-down list. You can select palettes that all have hues in the same color family (monochromatic), all along the same side of the color wheel (analogous), in a triad across the color wheel (triad), etc. There is no hard and fast rule for which one you should select. Just play with it and you just might find your palette!
- If you have a color in mind but want to round it out into a palette, try ColorHexa. It’s by far one of my favorite color palette resources!
- Not sure WHAT color you love? Try Color by Hailpixel. This so-much-fun website allows you to move your mouse around the screen until you see a color you love (you can even use your scrolling button to change the hue and saturation of the color). When you find a color you love, click your mouse. You can then start again, changing the color of the screen right next to the color you chose. Let your own eye guide you as you create a unique color palette yourself!
- Another very flexible tool to use when searching for your color palette is Colrd. You can look through images (similar to {design seeds}), pre-selected color palettes, find gradient code for your website, and more.
As you can see, there’s TONS of help out there when it comes to narrowing down your color palette!
Like I’ve said before, you don’t have to have all the creative answers before we can start working on your site. You’ll find lots of inspiration along the way, and everything will just come together. A little bit like magic.
